CollabNet Intends to Become No.1 in Agile ALM by Acquiring Danube

CollabNet whose key forte lies in agile Application Lifecycle Management (Agile ALM) announced recently that it has acquired Danube, a provider in Scrum project management solutions. Danube’s software portfolio includes ScrumWorks Pro software for Agile projects and program management and provides training, certification, coaching, and consulting services to organizations implementing Agile. As a direct result of this acquisition, Danube now has the distribution channel it requires to service a larger customer base of remote teams who were not accessible till now.

CollabNet has already made Danube’s Scrum services and project management facilities available on their key ALM platform, CollabNet TeamForge, thereby extending its capabilities from being just an ALM tool into Agile Project Management. CollabNet’s development tool Subversion has graduated Apache's Incubator and is currently listed as a TLP (top level project) for the Foundation.

“CollabNet’s acquisition of Danube is the next step in our continued leadership in changing the way that software is built,” said Bill Portelli, chief executive officer, CollabNet. “The addition of Danube’s technology and team to our organisation will uniquely enable us to help customers to adopt, implement, and scale Agile software development programs, especially distributed teams that wish to collaborate and leverage knowledge across the entire enterprise.”

“After the acquisition, Danube customers will continue to receive first-class support from CollabNet and will benefit from the breadth and strength of the CollabNet team around the world.” said Laszlo Szalvay, president, Danube.

Scrum and Agile Development Covered at India's Biggest Polyglot Conference for IT Professionals

One of the most popular Agile project management and development methods, Scrum is starting to be adopted at major corporations and on very large projects. Stephen Forte, Microsoft Regional Director for the NY Metro region and CSO of .NET components vendor Telerik, will be conducting a workshop on Agile Development Tools and Teams with a focus on Scrum at Great Indian Developer Summit 2010.

After an introduction to the basics of Scrum like project planning and estimation, the Scrum Master, team, product owner and burn down, and of course the daily Scrum, Stephen (a certified Scrum Master) will address many real world applications of the methodology drawn from his own experience as a Scrum Master. Negotiating with the business, estimation and team dynamics are all discussed as well as how to use Scrum in small organisations, large enterprise environments and consulting environments. Stephen will also discuss using Scrum with virtual teams and an off-shoring environment.

At India's biggest independent summit for software developers luminaries from the world of Microsoft computing technologies gather every year to discuss and debate new technologies emerging from the Microsoft stable; tune into advances in the .NET language treasure chest, immerse into .NET's laser focus on business-critical applications, and soak into experiential learning of software development tools and practices.
