Storyboarding Key to Mobile Game Development Lifecycle

Dayanidhi is an engineering and management graduate with over 17 years of experience in IT with expertise in delivery management. As Vice President - Customer Delivery at Digital Chocolate, Dayanidhi's role includes delivery management from India, capacity building and management, customer interaction (encompassing most of the mobile operators worldwide), strategic planning at the global level of the organisation including new business initiatives, M&A etc.
With the omnipresent swell in the area of mobile games development, Saltmarch Media caught up with Dayanidhi on the sidelines of the India Game Developer Summit 2010. The discussion began with a focus on lifecycle management with respect to game development. Dayanidhi couldn’t help but mention that the maturity level of this critical process is indeed very low in India as of now. That said, he is hopeful about the future and prophesises about key players in the Indian industry who will be able to manage the entire lifecycle of a game.
A key aspect of lifecycle management is the storyboarding process and who better than Dayanidhi to tell us about the importance of this step. In this interview, he explains how the game evolves into a different and more structured form once the storyboarding process is complete. On the post-production aspects of game development, Dayanidhi explained the challenges a developer faces while developing games for multiple platforms. Dayanidhi’s advice to new game developers in this particular area can be an eye opener for those who are flexible enough to implement valuable suggestions like the ones he mentions.
Watch the full interview for a list down of the technologies and requirements that a developer needs to satisfy if game development is your career of choice.
