Infragistics Rolls Out UI Components Based on JSF
Infragistics has made available a a complete set of User Interface (UI) components based on JavaServer Faces that it claims will enable developers to build robust Web 2.0 applications. Packaged under the name Infragistics NetAdvantage® for JSF 2009 Volume 1, Infragistics aims at offering freedom for developers from coding the entire interface layer and allowing them to focus on the business logic of their applications.
"Infragistics AJAX-enabled JSF components are pre-built, quality-tested components that leverage the power of the Java™ EE platform to help developers quickly and easily create compelling Java UIs," said Jim Cook, Java product manager at Infragistics. "We continue to build out an industry-leading JSF component toolset that combines customer feedback and recommendations matched to market trends."
According to Infragistics, developers can take advantage of a host of new features including:
* Client Side Object Model (CSOM) enables developers to more easily program components on the client-side (inside the user's browser) without going to the server. CSOM improves performance, and makes the components more powerful because developers can add their own Javascript that will be processed when events take place.
* Enhanced WebGrid includes full export to CSV mode, locale-aware sorting (for globalization) and easier row selection.
* New Icon Functionality enables developers to Change WebBar™ Stackbar Group Icon based on the state of that Group. It also provides an easy way to add different icons according to the state of the stackbarGroup component (expanded or collapsed).
NetAdvantage for JSF 2009 Volume 1 fully supports the JavaServer Faces 1.2 standard and can be deployed on the most popular frameworks.
NetAdvantage for JSF 2009 Volume 1 IDE design-time support includes Eclipse and IBM® Rational® Application Developer. It runs on all major application servers including BEA® WebLogic™, IBM WebSphere®, Sun® ONE, JBoss® and Apache Tomcat™. It also supports AJAX in the portal environments of BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere and JBoss.
