ODA Open Design Alliance Announces DWGdirect.NET Beta Release

The Open Design Alliance (ODA) announces the beta release of DWGdirect.NET, the first ODA platform component built for use with the Microsoft .NET framework.

DWGdirect.NET is a managed component that provides access to a rich subset of the ODA platform, including DWG data access, DWG file creation, and database support. Support for all database entities and system objects is included. Rendering support will be provided in a follow-up release in the coming months.

DWGdirect.NET is suitable for a wide range of applications that work with DWG data, complementing existing ActiveX and cross-platform C++ support. Developers can now access the ODA platform using a wide variety of .NET-compatible programming languages, including C#, VB.NET, and J#.

Neil Peterson, Chief Technical Officer of the ODA, commented, “We are proud to be expanding the ODA platform to include .NET support and look forward to highlighting it at the upcoming ODA World Conference. The .NET-compatible programming languages are widely used in Rapid Application Development (RAD), and are the tools of choice for many developers across a wide range of industries. DWGdirect.NET puts the power and flexibility of the ODA platform directly into the hands of these developers.”
