WHAT THE SPEAKERS SAID
GIDS is great! The halls have been full. It's great to see so many people. I've been listening in to some of the talks where an interactive Q & A has been happening between the speaker and the audience and I was really happy to see that. Often time you go to these conferences, especially in the US, where the person is just talking and the audience doesn’t feel like interacting. But in the talks at GIDS I saw a lot of back and forth happening and that is great. I also see a lot of young people here and that’s a great sign of what's to come. So I'm really excited!
- Manuvir Das, Head of Remote Desktop Virtualization Team, Microsoft Corporation
I always wanted to come to Bangalore. Some of my books are reprinted in India and I constantly get e-mail from developers in India, usually from Bangalore because this is the Silicon Valley of India. I'm glad I finally got the chance. GIDS is a really dynamic conference. There are a lot of developers here who tend to have a lot of experience. And the high level developers ask very technical questions. So GIDS is an energizing and fun environment to be in, and I'm very glad to be here.
- Marty Hall, President, coreservlets.com
I had high expectations for GIDS 2010, but even those were surpassed. The lineup of international speakers was exceptionally strong and the interaction with the delegates, nearly unparalleled. The density of information presented at GIDS is impressive. Delegates should come prepared to have their heads packed with new ideas. There is no time to sleep or relax much, meaning the event is a great value. I would strongly recommend any developer attend all the days of the GIDS conference to get a holistic view of the cutting edge technologies affecting developers today and in the coming 12 months.
The quality of the GIDS production was of the highest caliber. The venue, session planning, and quality of the overall GIDS experience was stellar.
Hallway interaction was the best part of the conference for both me and the delegates. I was able to share one-on-one about topics that are important to me and delegates were able to ask hard questions that went beyond the bounds of the formal talk time.
- Matthew McCullough, Co-Founder, Ambient Ideas
This is the third time I'm at GIDS and I like it here. For me GIDS is the APAC version of JavaOne event in the US. GIDS brings together a lot of developers, going beyond by inviting .NET, Java and Web developers to one place. So it is easier for people to compare different technologies, different vendors and that is a very interesting conference we have here. Oracle enjoys participating in GIDS and I do in the future.
- Frank Nimphius, Principal Product Manager, Application Development Tools, Oracle Corporation
GIDS has become the premier conference in India for software professionals. GIDS was very well attended and the people that came were clearly very interested in learning more about what some of us had travelled quite far to tell them! It was a real pleasure to have a chance to talk to the developers in India and share with them some of the exciting things that are happening in enterprise Java.
- Mike Keith, Oracle Representative on JPA 2.0 (JSR 317) & Java EE 6 (JSR 316) Expert Group; Architect, Java Persistence Strategies, Oracle
The simple reason [I am at GIDS] is to hang out with the programmers. I like programmers, I like educating them, I like interacting with them and this is an opportunity for me to meet some brilliant people in this area. So when Saltmarch said, "Hey, would you like to come and speak" it is a great opportunity for me to interact with some people. Every time I interact with somebody they learn from me and I learn from them too and so this is a great learning experience. Here I've met a lot of brilliant people and they've asked some really brilliant questions. And every time they ask a question there is a little engine that processes the details and I learn a little bit more than I did yesterday. So I am smarter today than I was yesterday. The folks at Saltmarch are brilliant people. They are very easy to work with. They care about what they do. They are doing something incredibly valuable to the developer community and I am thrilled to be part of that.
- Venkat Subramaniam, Author, .NET Gotchas, Practices of an Agile Developer & Programming Groovy; Founder, Agile Developer, Inc.
I really appreciate everything I saw at GIDS and I had lots of attending developers with queries on JSF, Java EE and ADF. GIDS was really an exciting experience...Very interactive and smart crowd. I would love to be there in future as well!
- Jobinesh Purushottaman, Principal Product Manager, Application Development Framework, Oracle Corporation
Great audience – knowledgeable, enthusiastic and inquisitive! Good job with scheduling different themes on different days.
- Vinod Malhotra, Group Program Manager, Visual Studio, Microsoft India
By including new and emerging technologies, GIDS continues to be on the cutting edge of the software development industry. The audience at GIDS is curious and inquisitive.
- Lakshman Prasad, Partner, Usware Technologies
"GIDS every year has been trying to surpass its previous best. This year is no exception with audiences flocking each and every jam packed hall, interesting business problems, great interactions post sessions. It has been fun for me to get back to GIDS again this year with technology insights from Microsoft. Hope to meet lot more attendees in the coming years too."
- Vinod Kumar, Technology Evangelist - Databases and BI, Microsoft Corporation
Speaking at GIDS was a great experience. I could interact with brightest engineers, working on diverse technologies. Saltmarch Media has done an excellent job in organizing GIDS. Looking forward to attend more such events in future!
- Rakesh Menon, Java FX, Oracle Corporation
WHAT THE DELEGATES SAID
"To get people of such caliber at one platform is a job in itself which Saltmarch have done to perfection. I chose to be there for .Web day, and the kind of knowledge that was flowing around, technologies being talked about and
the manner in which they were addressed, simply great."
"The GIDS 2010 became attitude reforming experience for me; I am quite technology geek person (most of my colleague's @ work & my classmates would buy this argument). Before this event never shared opinion / thoughts on something in public forum;
but in GIDS 2010 realized important of it."
"First day of GIDS, with sessions on .net, full of content with latest technology, developers from across the country, (who were there to quentch their thirst of knowledge,
and exposure to new tech) and presence of some most knowledgeable technology evengelists!, all under one roof."
"Since myself being a Java developer, I am participating the summit from today. All the presentation speakers took the crowd to a new technical realm that left
us all energized to a new level."
"After lunch visited all the stalls, one of the most interesting one was the Adobe Flex stall, as I was also keen on leaning a RIA along with good charting widgets. I got the
details required on flex and flex builder"
My take from GIDS - "Presentation tier, Application tier, Data tier.. it doesn't matter which tier a technology is, add it to your knowledge base as far as this knowledge
brings your software a value".
This was the third season of the Great Indian Developer Summit and like the previous conferences, this one too saw developers, technologists, evangelists and motivation speakers come from all parts. I personally like this conference
for the great array of speakers that it calls upon.
"The fresh morning, we headed towards beautiful place amidst city traffic. IISc, a dreamland for all GATE aspirants has been a perfect place to have such a summit that provides all the means to organize event
and at the same time surrounded by in campus greenry. Good wrk done by saltmarch team."
"Attended the GIDS summit Day 1. Just been through two sessions. Both were on Windows Phone 7 development, and the second one,
taken by Mr.Reddy Duggempundi was quite impressive."
Venkat Subramaniam's is one of the most motivating speech for Technologists.
As good as it gets! Funny Pragmatic and hits the bulls eye.
GIDS is really better organized, great speakers, focused session, interesting session, good place to network with other folks.
Thanks to all those who dropped into our stall @devsummit. Congrats to the organisers for a flawless event in Great Indian Developer Summit
"Simon, thanks for the great insight on AWS. Your sessions were really great and I enjoyed them at Great Indian Developer Summit, ciao next year!"
Some of the sessions and workshops running parallel at Great Indian Developer Summit made me think if I had a clone for myself :)
The sessions teach us more on what we do in our day to day work. GIDS gives us an excellent opportunity to learn cutting-edge technologies. And therefore it is valuable to attend.
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
GIDS is awesome. Today's workshops are brilliant with so many diverse topics covered under one roof. It's brilliant!
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
I attended Scott's session on Ajax today morning which was excellent. Then I attend the talk on payments by PayPal which also went really well...
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
This is my second time at GIDS. The recession prevented me from attending the summit in its second year, but I'm back now.GIDS has some great speakers. I've been here for two days now. I liked the workshops such as Matthew McCullough's workshop on cloud computing with Google apps. The speakers bring with a lot of exprience and they are hands-on with the code and they have been contributors to a lot of specs worldwide. So it makes a lot of sense for us to attend GIDS. Scott Davis, Venkat are some of the other speakers who were tremendously good.
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
I am excited with the multiple technologies being covered at GIDS. I feel I have a lot of things to learn here. I have two more sessions today -- by Scott Davis and another on agile development by Stephen Forte. I will come back next year to learn new technologies and I'm already looking forward to it!
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
I love GIDS. This is a unique exposure we have with the speakers at this summit. There is no other show like GIDS in India. It's really great!
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
Amazing! I found GIDS very interesting because being an entrepreneur it is important for me to find out about new technologies. I came down all the way from Mumbai to attend the summit because I found it really worthwhile. GIDs opens new avenues for me and gives me new directions to where I could be heading further. There are lots of ways to find out about new stuff -- I can refer the Internet -- but at GIDS I get it on a platter! I found Scott Davis to a very good speaker and he explained everything in a very simplistic manner so it made a lot of sense.
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
At GIDS we are able to meet with the developers and the technical community with whom we have been able to interact. I have attended other events and GIDS is better than all of them.
- GIDS 2010 Delegate
This is my first time at GIDS. It's great to understand all the cutting-edge technologies displayed here. It's awesome. You get to learn so much in these days which, if left alone, you will not know.
